2003 – A Year in Review

Always anxious to start a new year. 
Lots to do! 
With help from friends and family, I’ll have a great year !
January 2003

Rehearsed for two weeks with Lenny Graff and “The Capital City Swing Band” for a tour up north.

14th – Drive to Sault Ste Marie.  Stayed at the White Pines Inn.
15th – Drive to Manitouwadge, Ontario!  Played the High School.  What a great gig.  (It’s cold - 35?!) 
 Met some wonderful people.  Marilyn and Rick Hales.
16th – Drove to Dorin, Ontario.  Played the Dorion Community Centre.  (What a great facility.)
17th -  Drove to Dryden.  Stayed at the Best Western (no gig tonight).  It’s really cold - 52?.  WOW! SHIT! HELP!  At 55°, your spit rolls!
18th – Played at the Dryden High School
19th - Drove to Fort Frances.  Played the Townsend Theatre  (Warp 9 Club)
20th – Drove to Thunder Bay.  (no gig tonight)
21st – Drove to Marathon, Ontario.  Played the Marathon High School
22nd – Drove to Wawa  (It’s getting warmer - 20?)  Played Michipicoten High School.  Stayed at Wawa Motor Inn.    (Great rooms and meals)
23rd – Drove to Chapleau.  Played at the Chapleau Public School.  Stayed at the Blue Herron Inn.
24th – Drove to Kirkland Lake.  Played Northern College.  Great auditorium.
25th – HOME!  -5? in Toronto.  WARM!

February 2003
Played Grays Boathouse in Port Credit.  Went to the 9th anniversary of The Pie Guys Sunday afternoon at The Blue Goose.
26th  - Met with Heather Katz about recording.
March 2003

8th - “Bowling for Blues”  Classic Bowl in Mississauga.   This is a great charity event that the Southside Shuffle folks put on.   “I won worst bowler trophy.”

Saw “Joe Cocker” at Casino Rama March 29th.  He was great.

Played “Granite Ridge Golf Club” for a private function.

19th – Played a benefit at the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Credit, for “The Lamp Community Centre.”   Jack DeKeyzer and The Bear were special guests, including Ginny Lynn and Donnie Meeker.

25th & 26th -  Played “Old Chicago’s” in London, Ontario, as a guest.  “Love the house band.”

June 2003
Played the “Louisiana’s Seafood Grill” in Brampton. 
Saw “Remy Shand” in Oakville.  He was great. 
Produced a demo for Sandy Graham.


August 2003

8th – Visited my buddy from college, “Russell Cool” in Midland.   Love you Russ!

19th – Press party for the “Southside Shuffle”

24th“Dave Murphy” was my guest on Sunday at The  Hollywood.  This guy is amazing.  Love you Murph!
 

July 2003

11th & 12th – Played Collingwood (Windy O’Neills)

13th-20th – Halifax – Love this town.  Played at Stayner’s Warf and The Shoeshop with Jazz East Festival.  My buddy, Mike Leggat on piano.

26th – Played “The Barn Dance” for “Santa Clause” Mike.  Wish you always the best Mike!

27th – Started a Sunday afternoon gig at “The Hollywood” in Etobicoke.  4:00-8:00pm with guest!  Great Band.

September 2003 
Lots of prep! For Heather Katz’s recording.

4th, 5th, 6th & 7th – “The Southside Shuffle” Blues and Jazz Fest.  This is so much fun as M.C. on the Mainstage. Get to see a lot of friends that I don’t see throughout the year.  51 hours on stage, all totaled.

4th – Golfed at “Magna” golf course.  What a course!  Thx Gerhard. 

12th & 13th – Played Collingwood!

14th – Jack Dekeyzer was my guest.  This guy is all fantastic, always has been, always will!

21st – George Olliver was my guest at The Hollywood.  George your amazing.

26th, 27th – Played Collingwood

October 2003

4th“Steve Faudimer” wedding.

6th – Went to “Pucks Farm” studio to make all arrangements for recording Heather Katz’s CD.

14th, 15th & 16th  - Recorded all bed tracks, solo’s, background vocals, etc., etc.  The musicians were AMAZING!

19th – Met with David Clayton Thomas and talked about a jazz CD with him!

20th & 21st Heather Katz – vocals!  www.heatherkatz.ca

23rdMichael Theodore – C.D. release party at The Hollywood On The Queensway.  I sang background vocals.!  Some great songs here, Mike!

November 2003

1st – “Bluenote Reunion”, Capital Theatre on Yonge Street.  900 people – what a night!  Dominic Troiano played!  Shawne Jackson sang!

2nd – “An Afternoon With Musical Friends”  That’s what it’s called.  Friends from my neighbourhood get together once a year and have a neighbourhood gathering.  It’s a day I wait fore every year.  I hope I never miss one.  “Colleen Smith” – book launch at the “Boulevard Club”, Bravo Colleen!  Then back to The Hollywood for my regular Sunday gig.  Danny B. was my guest, A good ole WESTON boy!

7th & 8th – Played London, Ontario.  Doug Varty, Chris Dahmer, YES!

15th – Went to see my friend “Jason Hales” sing at “Isabel Badder Theatre” OPERA! – Jason you’re great!

21st – “Campbell’s Soup” Christmas Party at the C.N. Tower.  “Horizons” restaurant.  Getting our gear up there was a story! Ben Jokela
Charlie Cooley, Tom Griffiths, WOW!

22nd – Saw “The Platters” in Hamilton thanks to my dear friend Steve Farrant.

23rdJohn Mays, Vocalist Plus! Was my guest.  John you are THE!  BEST! FOR! SURE!

28th & 29th – Played Casino Niagara!  Great gig.  Amazing food. YES, YES, YES. 

30th - My guest at the Hollywood was Jeff Healey.  Man he is soooo good!  Thanks Jeff, you’re hot.
